How to Make Money on YouTube with Google AdSense

You’ve created a YouTube channel. You’ve consistently uploaded quality videos. You’ve successfully engaged your audience… Now you’re starting to think that you might be able to make some money with your YouTube channel, but how? Where do you start? What’s the first step, and then what’s the next? Fortunately, with Google AdSense, you can actually make money on your YouTube videos without really doing much more than signing up. What Is Google AdSense? Google AdSense is a free service that allows you to monetize your YouTube channel and any or all of the videos on it. With this service, Google uses its platform to match relevant advertisements with your YouTube channel. With older advertising models, you would have had to find and establish relationships with advertising companies and/or companies that wanted to advertise their products and services online. You’d have to spend a lot of time picking and choosing the right ads to place on your website or videos, and you’d be in char...

What are the average CPM/CPC rates in India?

It's impossible to know the average CPM / CPC rates in India without any information on targeting parameters, your process of buying media (direct, agency, network or DSP), the channels you want to buy (mobile or web), and whether you want to target specific audience segments from DMPs. There are so many factors that drive CPM / CPC rates: categories, channel, ad placements and publishers, device, and many more. And even if you simply want to target all the online audience in India without any other targeting parameters, the rates will still vary based on the placements, the agencies, networks, and platforms that you will use. Example, GDN has more expensive rates than ad networks. And across hundreds of ad networks, they have different rate cards for India even for remnant traffic. When you use a DSP like Bluagile, your CPM rates depend on how much you want to pay. The higher your max CPM bid, the more traffic you will get. Even bidding for traffic will not get you the ex...

Microsoft to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 billion; LNKD shares jump 47%

Shares of LinkedIn surged 47 percent after the announcement to near $193, while Microsoft's stock was down 3.2 percent. Trading in Microsoft had been halted briefly for news pending before the announcement of the all-cash deal. Moody's Investors Service placed Microsoft's "AAA" rating under review for downgrade following the deal announcement. Standard & Poor's though, reaffirmed its "AAA" rating, and said it maintains all other ratings and a "stable outlook" on the company. Jeff Weiner will stay on as CEO of LinkedIn and will report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The deal was unanimously approved by both companies' boards, and is expected to close by the end of the year. The acquisition is still subject to approval by LinkedIn shareholders and regulators. "The LinkedIn team has grown a fantastic busines...

How we increased our mobile ads income by 445%

We recently discovered how to radically increase our income from our mobile ads that were served by Google AdSense. As a result, we not only multiplied our mobile income, but a single mobile ad on our web app now also outranks the performance of all of the other banners like Skyscrapers or Superbanners on the desktop version of the same site. In this article I am not only going to reveal the basic trick, but also share the ideas behind it, including the tests we conducted and the steps we took to multiply our income from our mobile ads with simple pay per click optimization. Update: AdSense and Sticky Ads As Fedor pointed out in the comments, AdSense is now clearer in its terms of services stating that “fixed” or  "sticky” ads are not permitted . I decided to neither remove nor change the content of this post for two reasons. 1. AdSense is still testing their own implementation of sticky ads, called "anchor ads”. Hopefully, every publisher can use this method without...

understand your ADSENSE earnings AND estimated EARNINGS?

The reports in your AdSense account are intended to give you close estimates of the current activity in your account. However, these reports do not represent your finalized earnings. Many factors can affect the amount that is ultimately paid to you. Once earnings are finalized, they are posted to your "Payment history" page. Where appropriate and possible, any revenue found to be from invalid clicks or impressions is refunded back to the affected advertisers. If your account is disabled for invalid activity, then you won't be able to receive payment and, where appropriate and possible, we'll refund the revenue in the account to affected advertisers. On the Home page of your account, we show the following information: Estimated earnings: close estimates of your recent account activity from today, yesterday, this month so far, and last month Finalized earnings: this section displays two levels of earnings: “Current balance", which is the current balance of y...
